May Flower Festival

The May Flower Festival in Alitagtag is one of the biggest and longest-standing festivals in Batangas. It is believed that the Flower Festival predates the municipality’s establishment in 1910 which makes the said festival at least a century-old tradition. This festival is a religious event that demonstrates the Alitagtagenos’ unwavering faith and devotion to Mother Mary and the Holy Cross. It is a municipal-wide undertaking as each barangay is involved in the preparations and the presentations to be witnessed by the locals and tourists.

May Flower Festival is primarily a religious celebration, but the karosas (floats) rake in tourists and visitors. These floats, adorned with flowers and other ornaments, have become notable features of the annual celebration. Each of the 10 karosas is assembled by a barangay/ association. These petrol-fueled karosas exude the ingenuity of the Alitagtageno artistry and creativity. The May Flower Festival, also known as Tapusan to the locals, is held every 31st of May.
